Civil
Disturbance:
Nikko on Drums
Dan on Bass
Kris on Guitar
Matt T. on guitar
Matt E. on vocals
MetalHeadRadio:
Whats the origin of your band name?
Civil
Disturbance:
We had a lot of different band names
and this one seemed to fit with how we
felt the direction of our music was going.
You know the old good versus evil thing.
MetalHeadRadio:
How long have you all known each other?
How did you meet?
Civil Disturbance:
Well Matt E. and Kris are the only original
members left and well it was kind of fate |
..... |
Matt was singing a Tantric song at a
bar during Karaoke night and Kris woman Jamie
heard him and the rest is history. ( we later got to open a show for
Tantric
.just goes
to show you how fate works) and that was all about 5 years ago. |
MetalHeadRadio:
I hear you have a new DVD coming out soon!
Can you tell us about it.
Civil
Disturbance:
We have this great LIVE DVD coming out in the next few weeks, we had a
professional
producer come and do a five camera layout and our recording engineers come
and run a
channel for channel live feed, they are being synced up as we speak. We are
very excited
because if you have heard our CD its good but when you get the songs and
the show we
put on its all together a whole different experience. Oh and Deuce you
havent seen the
good version yet!
MetalHeadRadio:
What is your music background?
Civil
Disturbance:
We all have very different musical backgrounds,
I (Kris) actually started playing the trombone
at about 9 years old and of course was really
bad at it. At the age of 15 I picked up my first
guitar and the rest is pretty much history, love
at first site.
MetalHeadRadio:
Who are your musical influences?
Civil
Disturbance:
Honestly any musician out there doing what they
love is an influence because everyone who plays |
 |
an instrument has that one thing that
they are good at, and when you see them play it live there
is so much raw emotion being released that it is hard not to be influenced.
That is why so many
musicians who go and frequent other bands shows always want to be playing
when they watch
someone else play... It just drives you! |
MetalHeadRadio:
What are your immediate music career goals? (Next year or so)
Civil
Disturbance:
We would definitely like to finish our upcoming CD. Of course getting a record
deal and
making this a full time job would be great (if it happens) but with the success
we have had
locally in the past year; our main goal has to be to continue on the path
we are on no matter
where it leads us.
MetalHeadRadio:
Who handles your daily business activities? (Bookings, promotions etc.)
Civil
Disturbance:
Generally Nikko has been taking care of most of the bookings although Kris
has been
slowly getting in the booking process as of late. The other daily business
is distributed
for the most part pretty evenly amongst the band members. We try to keep
everyone
busy with stuff so it is not always just one person doing it all.
MetalHeadRadio:
Do you have a record label?
Are you a member of any music organizations?
Civil
Disturbance:
Nikko actually has his own record label called
Villiacci Records, he has released other than
our CD I believe 6 or 7 other CDs under that
label with the most recent being this great Metal
band named Apothis check those guys out,
they are on our top friends on myspace. We are
part of the Maine Music association, which is an
organization that has a lot of members and
covers a lot of area in Maine. |
 |
MetalHeadRadio:
Where have you performed? What are your favorite and least favorite venues?
Do you have any upcoming shows?
Civil
Disturbance:
There are so many places we have played it would be very hard to come up
with
a list off of the top of my head. A few of my favorite venues are The
Station in Portland;
Wardens in Lewiston, Mixers In Sabattus, and because of the crazy
friggin people
Rumors in Skowhegan, Although not much can compare to playing in front of
over
5000 people at the Skowhegan fair Grounds.
We have a few shows left that complete our summer season
off. On July 28
we are doing a benefit for CAMP P.O.S.C.A.R.D at the Bangor State Fair,
Then the following Saturday we are Playing a show at Club Texas in Auburn,
then on August 9 we are playing at Rumors in Skowhegan and the very next
night
(Aug. 10) we will be playing again in front of thousands of people to defend
our
WTOS battle of the bands title at the Skowhegan State Fair.
MetalHeadRadio:
Where would the "ultimate" venue for you to
play be?
Civil
Disturbance:
It wouldnt be a specific place, the ultimate venue
for us would be any SOLD OUT arena. That
would just be amazing; we have played a few
outdoor shows that if were inside an arena would
sell it out but we have yet to play an inside arena.
There is something about going to a concert that is
indoors and hearing the roar of the crowd
enclosed in an inside setting.
MetalHeadRadio:
Which songs do you perform most frequently? |
...... |
Civil
Disturbance:
For the most part we usually try to play all of our songs live at shows.
Sometimes because
of set times we may have to cut out a some songs but we really enjoy to play
and if we
could we would play them all at every show.
MetalHeadRadio:
Who writes your songs?
What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs?
Who comes up with the most song ideas?
Civil
Disturbance:
Matt E. writes all of the lyrics and the band writes
all of the music. I believe most of our songs in
essence are always about past experiences Matt
has had in life, and they always seem to have some
sort of good vs. evil concept. Whether it came
from an experience from an ex-girlfriend or a
struggle he had to pull through at a particular time.
The thing thats nice about the rest of the band sort
of having full control of the actual music is that we
have the ability to take our feelings and emotions
and put them into the song in a form that may only
make sense for us, and what I mean by that is we
know how each song drives us and how we were
feeling on that particular time that the song was
written and that is a nice feeling. |

MetalHeadRadio:
What are your fans generally like?
Civil
Disturbance:
Kick ass!!! That pretty much sums them all up in a nut shell. The one thing
I like is that
they are there for us, we are constantly talking to them and they are always
just so
great to us. Weve gotten customized artwork form one girl named Crystal
which
was sick and you can see that stuff on our myspace site. But the one true
thing is
that people know we are a very approachable group of guys and if you take
the
time to get to know us we get to know you, and lots of fans have become
great
friends to us and that is a very important aspect of how things work with
us.
MetalHeadRadio:
How has your music evolved since first
began playing together?
Civil
Disturbance:
Currently on our newest album (yeah! The
one that is under construction in the studio)
we decided to give our music a fresher taste
with better guitar tracks and bass and drums
as well as more produced vocals; since we
have only two original members. The group
we have now is completely different than
when we first started and the music soon to
come out reflects that a great deal but you
can still tell it is Civil D. |
..... |
MetalHeadRadio:
What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?
Civil
Disturbance:
WORK,WORK,WORK! It is not an easy task to form a band but when everything
feels right it is, dont settle for anything less, and always remember
what your assets
and limitations are, and find members that have close to the same playing
ability you
do because when your band starts developing so wont you and the other
members.
Remember it doesnt matter how great your are at your instruments its
about how
good the music is and how you treat the people that listen to it.
MetalHeadRadio:
What is the name of your most current CD?
Where can it be purchased?
Civil
Disturbance:
The Battle Within and it can be purchased at all Bullmoose locations
throughout
Maine and New Hampshire, or at any live show we are at.
MetalHeadRadio:
Do you maintain a webpage or myspace page? If so what is the URL?
Civil
Disturbance:
