MetalHeadRadio:

Whats the origin of your band name?...

LPP:
That’s a long story..........

It has nothing to do with guns believe it or not. When Frank and I (Doug) started the
band we never could decide on a name that we both liked, So we just wrote songs
and waited for something to come to us. We had our first show booked opening for
a then Unsigned Puddle of Mudd. It was down to the wire with like a week before
the show and we still did’nt have a name. So Frank and I were on the phone just
throwing names out and he said how about Low Point Pull????? I was like that’s it,
I can live with that! I went and printed up a bunch of flyers handed them out and told
the club what the name was for the radio ads.

A couple of days later Frank saw the flyers that said Load Point Pull and he’s like
what’s Load Point Pull? He said he was talking about Low Point Pull....The center
of gravity! I was like Oh Shit......I thought you said Load Point Pull!!!! Anyways it
was too late to reprint flyers, Change Radio ads etc.....

So Load Point Pull it was.

Not the interesting story most people expect but that’s how it came about!
Feel free to think what you want the name to mean.

MetalHeadRadio:
How long have you all known each
other & How did you meet?

LPP:
Frank and I met in 1997 through
mutual band friends. I was playing in
a band called Motherlode and he had
just quit his band Jet Black. He had
just moved back from LA and was
looking to start a new band.I
remembered seeing his old band
thinking that he was one of the best
Metal/Rock vocalist that I’d ever heard.
I was like sign me up! We started to get
together to write some songs and started
looking for a drummer and a guitar player.
We ran into Ryan Westward and a drummer
named Kenny Burkett (the original Puddle
of Mudd drummer).

We tried to get together a bunch of times but things just never
took off. They were just too busy with their other projects. So we moved on and
hooked up with the guys on the first CD. Frank and I had already written the
whole thing we just need a band to play out.

After a few years and several guitar players and drummers later we ran into Ryan
again. He was like just give me another shot. We did and he’s been with us ever
since. Everything came full circle. Denny and I used to play in a band together back
in the day. We wanted to add another guitar player to fill things out a bit. Toby just
joined the band in January of 08. He’s the missing puzzle piece we’ve been looking
for. We finally feel like we have the unit we were looking for all these years.

MetalHeadRadio:
When did you form your band?

LPP:
We formed in 1997, Took a few
years off between 2001 and 2005.
We had toured and played our asses
off for several years but we just never
could get to that next level. So we
decided it was time to do other things
for a while. Frank and I were still
great friends.

After a few years everyone started telling us how much they missed LPP.
We kinda looked at each other and said you know what?
I think I miss it too!!!!

MetalHeadRadio:
What inspired you to make music together?

LPP:
We liked the same bands and felt that music was missing something that we had to offer.

MetalHeadRadio:
What is your music background?

LPP:
All different......Some of the guys are pretty technical.
I started out playing a tennis racket to Kiss songs!
I knew what I wanted to do since the age of seven.
I pretty much taught myself songs on the radio.

MetalHeadRadio:
Who are your musical influences?

LPP:
Kiss, Judas Priest, Ozzy, Shotgun Messiah, Marilyn Manson, Slipknot,
Disturbed, Tool etc......Too many to list.

MetalHeadRadio:
What are your immediate music career goals? (Next year or so)
LPP:
We’d like to get on a national tour,
Sell a million CDs. Die rich, fat, and
happy!!!!! But we’d settle for making
a living doing what we love to do. We’re
in it for the music.......We wanna bring
back the Anthems.

MetalHeadRadio:
Who handles your daily business activities?

LPP:
Right now we do it all ourselves, we’re
looking for a new manager. Things are
starting to get a little too busy for us to
handle it on our own. We really want to
take it to the next level.

MetalHeadRadio:
Do you have a record label? Are you a
member of any music organizations?

.....

LPP:
Right now we’re on our own. We were on a label but they went broke right when
our last CD “Down In Flames” came out. It was hard for us.

We were really proud of that CD and it’s barley seen the light of day.
It took almost a year just to get it released.

I own a studio here in Kansas City called the Digital Edge, So we decided to
record a new Ep called Element. It’s a killer disc. We plan to release it this
summer. Not sure if we’ll do it on our own or with a label.

Sometimes things take too long with big companies. We just want to get it out
there to the people.

MetalHeadRadio:
Where have you performed? What are your favorite and least favorite venues?

LPP:
We’ve done so many shows!!!!
Some of the hightlights are:

Rockfest here in Kansas City, It’s 30,000 people festival that our local rock station
98.9 puts on. We did a small tour with Vince Neil,We just did some shows with
Hell Yeah, Otep, and Prong. We also just played with Bret Michaels....We thought
we might be a little heavy but his crowd loved us!!! Plus he’s a really cool guy!

we’ve done shows with everyone from Anthrax to Creed to Warrant. You name
it, We’ll do it!

MetalHeadRadio:
Do you have any upcoming shows?

LPP:
We are in the process of setting some
dates up as we speak.

MetalHeadRadio:
Where would the "ultimate" venue for
you to play be?

LPP:
Anywhere they’ll have us!!
Madison Square Garden would be cool.

MetalHeadRadio:
Which songs do you perform most frequently?

LPP:
We do them all......We like to change things up!

MetalHeadRadio:
Do you ever play any covers?

LPP:
We always have one or two up our sleeve. We mostly do covers you wouldn’t
expect to hear from a band like us.

MetalHeadRadio:
Who writes your songs?

LPP:
Frank and I (Doug) have written most of the songs.
But all the guys write. We are writing more as a band lately.

MetalHeadRadio:
What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs?

LPP:
We write a lot about life. Good times,Bad Times.

We try to stay true to what we believe in. We seem to have a lot of bad luck, But we
don’t let that stop us. That’s what our new single “Why” is about.

MetalHeadRadio:
Who comes up with the most song ideas?

LPP:
We all do. The first two cds were Frank and I..

MetalHeadRadio:
What are your rehearsals generally like? Do you have a set time each week in
which you practice or are rehearsals more spontaneous?

LPP:
We spend more time in the studio. When we rehearse it’s mostly business.

We’re getting ready for a show or a tour. We spend some time jamming but it’s
mostly in the studio.

MetalHeadRadio:
How has your music evolved since first began playing together?
LPP:
We just write songs we’d like to hear.
We never think too hard about writing songs.
We just do what comes out. It’s not rocket
science....It’s Rock ‘n Fuckin’ Roll!!!!!!

MetalHeadRadio:
What advice do you have for people who
want to form their own bands?

LPP:
Do it cuz you love it not cuz you think you’re
gonna get rich. That happens for very few.
It has to be in your blood.

We eat, sleep, and breath music 24/7.

MetalHeadRadio:
What is the name of your most current CD?

LPP:
“Down In Flames”
“Element” will be out later this summer.

MetalHeadRadio:
Where can it be purchased?

LPP:
ITunes, Amazon,Bestbuy,Target, Walmart, Barnes & Noble.
Just about anywhere.....If they don’t have it in stock they can order it.
